On 17 May 2023 the book “Ventotene 80”, edited by Michele Fiorillo, was presented at the Venice Office of the Council of Europe. Altiero Spinelli, during his confinement in the small island of Ventotene, gathers the funding principles of what was to become the European integration project. The discussion evoked the importance of the European values shared by the Council of Europe and the European Union and the need to preserve them for the peaceful coexistence of nations.

The presentation was moderated by Director Luisella Pavan-Woolfe. Participants included Francesca Vianello, in representation of the Europe Direct office of Venice; Giorgio Anselmi, President of the “House of Europe” of Verona; Michele Fiorillo, editor of the book; Marzio Favero and Elena Ostanel, European Federation group councilors of the Veneto Region.
