The “Europa Adriatica Project” takes off in Venice

 

On 8 May 2023 the Europa Adriatica Project was presented at the Council of Europe office in Venice during the National Festival of Sustainable Development 2023.

The cross-border program starts in Venice and encompasses the cities of Rovinj, Pula, Mali Lošinj, Zadar, Rijeka, all the way to Nova Gorica. The 2023/2025 activity plan includes sustainability initiatives and events oriented by the UN Agenda 2030 goals to promote culture, education, research, trade and quality tourism.

Luisella Pavan-Woolfe, head of the Council of Europe office in Venice, host of the event, stated: "The Europa Adriatica project is a fascinating journey of discovery of a sea that unites, and of regions and peoples that are a vital part of the construction of modern Europe, a continent of exchange, dialogue and rights. These are objectives for which the Council of Europe - an organization I have the honor of representing in Italy through the Venice office - has been working for more than seventy years on our continent". Among others, speakers included Vittorio Baroni, author of the project, Massimiliano De Martin, in representation of the City of Venice, Sanjin Zoretić, President of the Community of Italians of Lussinpiccolo (Italian name of the city of Mali Lošinj), Maurizio Pozzato, Vice-President of the Order of Engineers Venice, Giovanni Alliata di Montereale, President of the Vittorio Cini Archive Foundation and the Laguna Cultural Center, and Andrea Rizzo, Vice-President of Ascom Confcommercio Venezia.
