On 16 March, Padova University paid tribute to Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia the first woman to receive an academic degree from a university in 1678. Her recently restaurated statue was unveiled.

Luisella Pavan-Woolfe spoke of gender equality at the lightning ceremony of the restaured statue, a Rotary Club initiative in the framework of the celebrations of the University’s 800th anniversary.
