EULab Summer School 2021 takes off

From 9 until 22 July, a summer school on the topic “Labour Migration in the European Union” (EULab) will take place in dual mode, online and live, in Naples.

The event is organized by the Law Department of University Federico II, in collaboration with the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IRISS), and with the support of the European Union Erasmus + programme.

The summer school will involve 50 postgraduate students. It intends to promote knowledge on labour migration to Europe through the specific lenses of International and European Law, with a specific focus on issues of domestic work and employment in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, the school will highlight the gaps between socio-economic rights recognized to migrant workers under international and EU law, and their actual enforcement in everyday life.

Among the guest lecturers of the 2021 edition, Ambassador Drahoslav Štefánek, Special Representative for Migration and Refugees of the Council of Europe, will participate to the discussion with a special focus on migration issues as tackled by international organizations, providing insights from his personal experience in the field.
