A show remembers Marietta Barovier

On 12 September "Fire Woman, Marietta Barovier, pioneer of Venetian beads" was staged at Teatro Goldoni, at the end of the international festival that Venice dedicates to glass art. The theatre performance recalls the emblematic figure of the 15th century female entrepreneur. Among those in attendance there were the president of the City Council Emanuela Damiano and Luisella Pavan-Woolfe, director of the Italian Office of the Council of Europe.

The stage performance was also recorded as a documentary and presented at the 78th Venice Film Festival. The full version subtitled in four languages will be shown on the occasion of the European Day of Languages, on 26 September at 6pm on YouCafoscari, the official YouTube channel of Ca' Foscari university.

With this project, the cultural association Arte-Mide supported the successful application by the art of glass beads to be inscribed on the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
