New Data Protection Regulations of the Council of Europe have been adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 15 June 2022 with the effective date of 1 January 2023.

In accordance with these new Regulations, the Council of Europe shall ensure protection of all individuals, whatever their nationality or residence, with regard to the processing of their personal data by the Organisation, thereby contributing to respect for their human rights and fundamental freedoms, and in particular their right to privacy.

As of 1 January 2023, the Regulation of 17 April 1989 instituting a system of data protection for personal data files at the Council of Europe will be replaced by New Regulations on the Protection of Personal Data adopted by Resolution CM/Res(2022)14 of the Committee of Ministers on 15 June 1922.
