EUAA/FRA delegation visits the Council of Europe

A delegation from the European Union Asylum Agency (EUAA), including a representative from the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), paid a study visit to the Council of Europe.

The Secretary-General's Special Representative on Migration and Refugees (SRSG), Leyla Kayacik, welcomed the delegation and discussed ways to further strengthen the partnership between the EU agencies and the Council of Europe in protecting the human rights of migrants and refugees, in particular those in vulnerable situations.

During the three-day visit, the EUAA/FRA delegation had substantive meetings with the Executive Secretary of the Group of States against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) as well as with the representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Registry of European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the ECtHR, the Secretariat of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT); the Secretariat of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI); the Secretariat of the Istanbul Convention *; and the Programme on Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP).

The Council of Europe is committed to working closely with its EU partners to protect the human rights of migrants and refugees in Europe.
