To help beneficiaries and key actors in Kosovo* better understand and address the issues surrounding the political advertising , the Study on Political Advertising: A comparative Study with Reflection on the situation in South-East Europe was translated with the support of the EU and Council of Europe Regional action "Freedom of expression and freedom of the media in South-East Europe. This study derived as a follow-up of the online regional roundtable dedicated to media regulatory authorities “Election, pandemics and disinformation” organised in July 2020.
It constitutes an important and useful document providing the media regulatory authorities with valuable and practical references of political advertising during the electoral campaign. It also offers guidelines on the matter, in line with European standards and best practices in this field.
The EU and Council of Europe joint action on “Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the media in Kosovo* (JUFREX) ensured that the document is proofread, and the language and other technical terminology used in the document is in line with the Media Regulatory Authority standards and terminology.
The original study can be found in English as well as translated in Albanian and Serbian language.
The Action “Freedom of expression and freedom of the media” is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims at assisting Beneficiaries in the Western Balkans region and Turkey to comply with the Council of Europe standards and European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process, where relevant.
This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSC 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
