At the last Lisbon Forum, five hundred participants from eighty-five countries explored the role of intercultural dialogue in countering misinformation, disinformation and hate speech.

As stressed at the time by the director of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, Ambassador Afonso Malheiro, “Whether online or offline, openness of mind, willingness to understand the other, awareness of the cultural and social differences that can only but enrich one’s viewpoint, efforts to reach out through an honest and meaningful dialogue, and also tolerance, respect and solidarity are the key elements that will bring us together in a common purpose of steering this world of ours to a future of peace, stability and sustainable shared prosperity for all.”
The way information is produced influences our state of mind and our perspectives on the world. Being aware of the mechanisms behind misinformation and hate speech helps us to develop our critical thinking in a continuous process.
The #Breakyourbubble podcast series continues the discussion through the views of experts who share their knowledge by answering the following questions:

What tools are required to combat misinformation and disinformation online?
How to tackle disinformation and misinformation about migrants and refugees?
What is the role of young people in the fight against disinformation and misinformation?
How does Intercultural dialogue counter misinformation and disinformation?

Each episode lasts approximatively 25 minutes. They are available on the Lisbon Forum 2021 webpage
