The Network of Universities on Youth and Global Citizenship - a partnership among several youth-related organisations and institutions - had its annual meeting last December and agreed on the date of the 2019 activities:
9-16 June 2019: 7th Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship
16-22 September 2019: 20th University on Youth and Development
The “Universities”, the Network promotes, provide different local, national and international organisations with a platform for multilateral cooperation which encourages networking, youth participation, sharing of knowledge and the development of advocacy strategies.
Youth-led or youth-related organisations from different regions of the world have the possibility to bring their own activity (training course, workshop, seminar, annual meeting etc.) with the related group of participants to the Universities.
The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, in collaboration with the Network’s members, provides the joint framework (pedagogical programme for the common moments, meeting with experts, artistic performances, media services…) and ensures the necessary administrative and logistic support to guarantee the best conditions for the organisations to run their activities in a flexible space which encourages synergies and peer education.
Every year, the activities are connected through a thematic annual priority. For the period 2018-2020 the Network agreed for a three-year cycle under the umbrella topic: “Peace, justice and strong institutions” (UN SDG 16). In 2019 the theme will be “Youth and Justice”. The 7th Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship and the 20th University on Youth and Development will focus on how to ensure equal access to justice, guarantee the rule of law, promote social justice and advocate for youth rights.
Youth-led and youth-related organisations are invited to apply to the “call for activities” which will be published on the 31st January and will remain open until the 24 February 2019, in order join the event by bringing their activity to one of the universities.
Save the dates and keep in mind this opportunity in case you are currently applying for grants: the Universities have a huge multiplying effect!
