Reykjavik Commits to Being an Intercultural City

On 17 September 2019 the Reykjavik City Council adopted a declaration regarding its commitment to be an intercultural city. This declaration outlines the leadership’s vision for the future of Reykjavik as a city proud with its diversity - an important step towards the adoption of an intercultural strategy. Reykjavik acknowledges that immigrants are an important resource for the economic, social and cultural development, and adopt policies to realise the diversity advantage. The city council pledged, on behalf of the city, to embrace diversity, equal rights, interaction and inclusion.
