Launch of an awareness raising project ”HUMANAE-Work in Progress” during the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

In celebrating the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, on 21 March, the cities of Bilbao and Getxo, which are part of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Programme (ICC) and members of the RECI, the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities, launched an awareness raising project called ”HUMANAE-Work in Progress”.  Based on the artistic work of the photographer Angélica Dass, the initiative represents “the values of equality and non-discrimination” by  using simple chromatic photos of people from around the world. The exhibition, which has also an educational scope, is displayed in crowded public places in the two cities.

The Council of Europe Intercultural Cities program supports the two cities in building inclusive societies, and in promoting Anti-rumours Strategies to fight racism and xenophobia,  and to eliminate negative stereotypes and prejudices linked to immigration, refugees and cultural diversity.
