In July the Intercultural Cities met to discuss the topic of intercultural competence training for local officials, focussing especially on why such training is needed and how it can be carried out in practice.
The well attended webinar gathered member cities of the international and national networks, Intercultural Cities experts and participants from across the globe. During the event, participants heard presentations from a theoretical background as well as practical examples from member cities. Further, a number of interesting examples from international cooperation between cities on this important topic were raised.
The Intercultural Cities programme will follow up the webinar with continued work on the topic of intercultural competence during the fall of 2022. This work will include a new online training which will be open to the public and which will focus on introducing the main concepts needed to build intercultural competence.
