How can the challenges of increasingly complex societies be managed?

In Intercultural Citizenship in the Post-Multicultural Era, Ricard Zapata-Barrero, presents an analysis focusing on a post-multicultural period, in which he suggests how we can better manage the challenges presented by our multifaceted and increasingly complex societies.

The first part of the book aims to review the narratives about diversity policies and contextualise the paradigm of emerging intercultural policy, with a special vision on the crisis of multiculturalism and European identity. In the second part, the foundations of interculturalism are explored, and the third part collects empirical examples related to the benefits for citizens of following such intercultural approach, one of the major government challenges of our century

In the introduction of the volume, the director of GRITIM underlines "the importance of the political dimension, the need for governments to find suitable tools and approaches to manage diversity". Likewise, UPF professor emphasizes that "although political awareness is key to recognizing the inevitability of the dynamics of the diversity of our societies, the problem remains that this recognition of diversity still has many difficulties in fully penetrating within the social and political structures ".
