Training for lawyers “Limits of Protected Speech”

Under the Joint Project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)” co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, a training session for local lawyers took place on 30 September 2017 in Ferizaj/Uroševac. The training “Lawyers and the limits of protected speech” has been organised in co-operation with one of the project partners - the Bar Association.

About 30 attorneys at law from the Ferizaj/Uroševac had an opportunity to expand their knowledge on international standards on the right to freedom of expression, focusing on the European Court of Human Rights case law. Some of the areas addressed during the training were defamation, protection of sources, whistleblowing and access to information.

Two most successful lawyers from the Training of Trainers delivered this training session. The lectures and exercises during the training were followed up by lively discussions and constructive debate.
