Students of Tirana University are trained in European Standards on Freedom of Expression and the Media

Students of Faculty of Law and Journalism of Tirana University are trained in European standards on freedom of expression and the media

With the support from a grant from Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in Albania (JUFREX 2), a joint project of EU and Council of Europe in the framework of Horizontal Facility II, Res Publica delivered an online training to students of Law and Journalism of the Tirana University.  The Law Faculty participation was a collaboration with the Albanian Chapter of the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA).

Students were trained in standards of Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights, relevant case law from the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), and how these standards were being reflected in domestic cases. They were also acquainted with resources on freedom of expression and practical skills in searching the ECtHR database and other document resources of Council of Europe.

This activity was organised with the support of the action "Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in Albania" part of the Joint Program of the European Union and the Council of Europe "Horizontal Instrument for the Western Balkans and Turkey II".
