The Council of Europe organised a workshop on 20 April 2017 in Casablanca to facilitate discussion between media professionals, civil society and academics on the portrayal of women in the media in Morocco. The event brought together around 30 participants to exchange perspectives and views on the specific role of public and private media in the shaping of perceptions and in improving women’s portrayal. They also discussed the existing regulatory and self-regulatory framework, focusing in particular on internal charters and policies developed by some Moroccan media.
