Co-operation projects in Morocco
The Council of Europe and the Press House brought together, as part of a training session, on 4 - 6 October 2016 in Tangier, twenty Moroccan journalists and journalism students.
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and know-how of the participants in order to give them a good grasp of concepts and practical issues related to the exercise of the freedom of the press and the respect for the ethical standards of the profession.
Conducted by two international trainers, the meeting focused on experience sharing and interactivity, thereby prompting participants to find answers among professionals to the current challenges they face in Morocco. The latter, in particular, discussed the issue of defamation, the provisions relating to the respect for privacy, hate speech, copyright issues as well as the role played by the media to stimulate public debate and pluralism.
The training was organised within the framework of cooperation activities between the Council of Europe and Morocco aiming at promoting freedom of expression, independence and plurality of the media.
