On March 16 and 17, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication HAICA organized in Tunis a symposium on "QUALITY JOURNALISM SUPPORTS THE RENEWAL OF JOURNALISTIC ETHICS IN THE ERA OF PLATFORMIZATION". The standards of the Council of Europe have been widely discussed with national and international experts in the field in order to identify courses of action for public authorities and journalists.
Mr. Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department, after recalling the challenges of access to reliable information, underlined the positive obligations of member states to establish a media landscape conducive to quality journalism. At the same time, on March 17, the Council of Europe adopted a recommendation calling on its 46 member states to create an environment that allows quality journalism to flourish and play its essential role in a democracy.
