Training on protection of journalistic sources and safety of journalists

Within the scope of the Joint Project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX),” co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, a training workshop for journalists and young media professionals was organised on 11 October 2018, in Pristina.

The training workshop on sources and safety concerns for journalists was delivered by local and international experts. The topics covered during this training included legal standards and protections offered to journalistic sources and journalistic materials; can journalists be forced to reveal confidential sources; basic safety issues for journalists, including physical and online threats as well as trauma issues.

Sources of further help and assistance on abovementioned topics were also provided by the international and local experts.
