A five-day intense training course on European and international human rights law: safety of journalists, freedom of association, freedom of expression, law enforcement actions in this area and the ECtHR case law on safety of journalists, was organised in an online format in Ukraine by the Council of Europe Project “Legal Education in the Field of Freedom of Expression in Ukraine” on 10-18 May 2021.

This activity was aimed to increase knowledge of the Ukrainian law students about issues of international and European human rights law, such as safety of journalists, freedom of association, negative and positive obligations in this area by means of tailored training session. During the training, 39 Ukrainian young legal professionals, PhD and MA degree law students and cadets of the National Academy of Internal Affairs heard a number of interesting lectures and presentations on relevant topics and participated in interactive discussions with a group of well-known local and international trainers and lecturers, dedicated to teaching human rights, most of whom combine their theoretical knowledge with the work in the area.

Following the decision of the Committee of Ministers on 16 March 2022 the Russian Federation is no longer a member of the Council of Europe. The website will be updated as soon as possible to take account of this development.
