Official Opening of a Training Centre of the Broadcasting Company Teleradio-Moldova

“We’ve been waiting for 25 years and now finally the Training Centre is open and functional”, said the TV and radio journalist at Teleradio Moldova.

Participants very much valued the practical training sessions offered and took steps to engage as internal trainers: “This is the recognition of my long experience and I am happy to be able now to share this knowledge with younger colleagues. This is also an advancement in my career.”

The Project promoting Media Freedom and Pluralism in the Republic of Moldova supported TRM during a year and a half to achieve this result.

Mrs. Olga BORDEIANU, Chairperson, Teleradio-Moldova, H.E. Ambassador Peter MICHALKO, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Roberta BATTISTA, Project Officer, Information Society Department, Council of Europe, addressed a welcome speech to trainers and trainees. The Project created the Training Centre of the public service broadcaster TRM as a source of the overall advancement of the TRM to the improvement of its quality and public recognition in its role of a public service media company. The project aimed at providing a center of journalistic excellence to enhance the quality of TRM video productions and to ensure content diversification. The Project also provided crucial support in setting up the Documentary Films Department of TRM (Telefilm-Chisinau).

Equipment was provided and also ten trainers were selected and trained by international trainers to disseminate their knowledge.

Selected trainers will carry out around 30 training sessions for around 150 people trained instead of the 100 initially planned, mainly focussing on the subject of reporting on the EU.

Next year the management has committed to finance by its own budget the future training sessions, thus ensuring sustainability of the action.
