Media Literacy: Georgian perspective

On 4 June 2019 the Council of Europe within the framework of the  project "Supporting Freedom of Media and Internet in Georgia"and the Georgian National Communications Commission co-organised a workshop "Media Literacy: Georgian perspective". The workshop brought together representatives of main stakeholders in the field of media literacy in Georgia, namely, the Regulatory and State bodies, civil society, academia and media. National stakeholders presented their work and initiatives in the field of media literacy and discussed the possibilities of future cooperation and coordination.

The CoE experts shared European best practices about successful media literacy programmes and cooperation examples among respective stakeholders. The main outcome of the workshop is agreement reached between all respective stakeholders in Georgia to establish a media literacy network, which will serve to coordinate efforts to increase skills and knowledge of general public in Georgia to make informed choices about media content and use of internet.
