Ethical Standards and Freedom of Expression: Free and Responsible Journalism and Good Judicial Practice

The first inter-professional seminar for the media and judiciary actors, within the framework of joint program of EU and Council of Europe, “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in South East Europe” (JUFREX), took place on 25th and 26th of January 2018, in Sarajevo. The purpose of the inter-professional seminars is to provide the opportunity for different stakeholders interested in freedom of expression and media, to enter into the dialogue and share their views and different perspectives. The event was organised by one of the JUFREX grantees, Press Council of BiH, and the topic of the discussion was relationship of ethical journalism and good implementation of media law.

The speakers at the event were: Chris Elliott the Interim Director of the Ethical Journalism Network (EJN) from London, and former Editor of Guardian’s Readers’, Amer Kaptanović Judge of the District Court of Banja Luka and CoE certified expert on Article 10 of European Convention of Human Rights-Freedom of Expression; Borka Rudić, Secretary General of Association of Journalists BiH; and Maida Bahto – Kestendžić, Press Council BiH.
