The European Parliament which is meeting in Strasbourg has just awarded the Lux Prize to Sámi Blood, a co-production between Sweden, Norway and Denmark supported by Eurimages and a first full-length feature for Swedish director Amanda Kernell. “The Lux Prize is at the forefront of promoting “made in Europe” cinema, our creative industry and our cultural and linguistic diversity,” declared the President of the Parliament." The seventh art was born here in Europe. Cinema is a driving force for culture, values and dialogue. This edition paves the way for a successful year 2018, during the year of European cultural heritage. Cultural heritage is not just about literature and art. It is also about stories that we tell and films we watch. It’s part of the fabric of our lives.” Last year it was the film Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade, also supported by Eurimages, which won the Lux prize. More information on the Lux Prize website.
