22nd edition of Etoiles et Toiles du Cinéma Européen: and the winners are...

The 22nd edition of the Etoiles et Toiles du Cinéma Européen event, which opened on 6 October 2021 at the Odyssée cinema in Strasbourg, wrapped up on 10 November 2021 with the presentation of the following awards:

  • The Odyssée – Council of Europe Prize for Human Rights went to the outstanding co-production QUO VADIS, AIDA? (BH, NO, RO, AT, DE, FR, PL, NL) by Jasmila Žbanić; the jury composed of Permanent Representatives of several member States of the Council of Europe and chaired by Marie Fontanel, French Ambassador and Permanent Representative at the Council of Europe, wished to acknowledge this powerful reminder of our individual and collective responsibility, when history becomes guilty and extends beyond the events, into the life after, without denial or forgetting.
  • The Odyssée – Council of Europe Prize for Artistic Creation went to the co-production ANOTHER ROUND (DK, SE, NL) by Thomas Vinterberg; while this film offers a tender and uncompromising look at the fragility and vulnerability of human beings, the jury wanted to praise an original and deeply human film, driven by a high-quality cast.

In addition to these prizes and because its members were very touched by the co-production THE INTRUDER (IT, CH, FR) by Leonardo Di Costanzo, the jury decided to pay tribute to all those who fight for and defend human rights everyday by awarding this film a Special Prize for the strength if its message.

The Eurimages team would like to take this opportunity to thank both the members of the jury for their excellent work and the director of the Odyssée cinema for organising the 22nd edition of this event, which allowed the public of Strasbourg to discover a prestigious selection of 14 international co-productions supported by the Fund.
