GLACY+: The 7th INTERPOL Americas Working Group on Cybercrime

The 7th INTERPOL Americas Working Group on Cybercrime (AMWGC) was held from 12 to 16 September 2022 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The meeting brought together over 90 participants from 32 member countries, 4 international organizations, and 13 public and private entities. INTERPOL is also an implementing partner of the Global Action on Cybercrime Extended (GLACY+) project of the Council of Europe and the European Union. Therefore, GLACY+ funded the participation of experts from priority countries of this project.

With the region facing a growing threat from cybercrime, the AMWGC meetings aim to strengthen the regional response through leveraging formal and informal cooperation of law enforcement communities. The 7th AMWGC assessed INTERPOL’s proposed global cybercrime strategy for 2022-2025 for an enhanced operational framework while improving capabilities in fields such as open-source analysis, virtual assets and digital forensics.

As part of the meeting, the GLACY+ Project delivered a scenario-based exercise on channels and avenues for international cooperation on cybercrime in cooperation with the United States Department of Justice. The Project will continue to support INTERPOL's regional and international initiatives to foster law enforcement cooperation on cybercrime.
