CyberSouth: Study visit in Morocco

Within the framework of the CyberSouth project, a study visit was conducted in Morocco, on 10-11 December 2018 in order to improve the partnership and the dialogue with the country, to assess the needs and to identify new opportunities for cooperation.

The Council of Europe delegation had the opportunity to visit the Central Cybercrime Unit and also the Marrakech Cybercrime Brigade within the DGSN (Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale). Although, not part of a Cybercrime Unit, the delegation went to meet experts from the forensics facility in place in order to understand its functionality in relation to cybercrime and collection of electronic evidence.

During this study visit, Council of Europe experts were able to identify and benchmark areas of potential cooperation with the Moroccan law enforcement on matters of digital forensic capabilities, and also shared experiences and best practices.

CyberSouth project will continue to support the efforts of Moroccan authorities in strengthening their capabilities to fight cybercrime.
