CyberSPEX: Workshop for practitioners on the procedures for cooperation under the Second Additional Protocol

On 20 and 21 January 2025, the CyberSPEX project, in collaboration with the European Judicial Cybercrime Network (EJCN), and the CyberSEE project, organised in the Hague the Workshop for practitioners on the procedures for cooperation under the Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention).

During the two day workshop, practitioners from the 27 EU member States, and representatives of EJCN, EUROPOL, EUROJUST, SIRIUS Project, Western Balkan Project and observer states, discussed in detail the provisions of the Second Additional Protocol, focusing on the operational aspects of the Articles 6 to 10. The participants shared views by following the case study scenarios implying challenges in cross-border cybercrime investigations and contributed to the development of the templates for cooperation under the Articles 6, 7 and 8.

The workshop was an excellent opportunity to incorporate practical approaches and practitioners’ perspective into the implementation process of the Second Additional Protocol by highlighting the challenges that could emerge from operational cross-border cooperation.

This activity is part of a broader effort undertaken by the CyberSPEX project to support EU member states in signing, ratifying, and implementing the Second Additional Protocol.
