Octopus Project – CYBERKOP action: Strengthening cooperation at the European case handling workshop 2025

Around 80 experts from 23 data protection authorities across the Europe met in Pristina for the European case handling workshop 2025, hosted by the Information and Privacy Agency of Kosovo*, with the support of the CYBERKOP Action of the Octopus Project.

As digital technologies reshape privacy and accountability, this workshop stands at the frontline of Europe’s data protection cooperation. Organised under the Spring Conference of European Data Protection Authorities, it provided a dynamic platform for regulators and practitioners to share practical experience, explore cross-border enforcement strategies, and strengthen cooperation.

The two-day programme featured keynote sessions and interactive workshops led by various data protection authorities, focusing on AI and deepfakes, smart cameras and biometrics, data protection in cross-border collaboration, children’s data on digital platforms, data scraping, and the processing of health data in the digitalisation era. Each session dived into the real-world dilemmas emerging from the intersection of technology, privacy, and human rights, echoing the CYBERKOP Action’s broader goal of building resilience against cybercrime and electronic evidence challenges.

The workshop marked a milestone for Kosovo*, highlighting its commitment to international standards and human rights, while fostering cross-border cooperation and policy dialogue on data protection across the Europe.
