The CYBERKOP Action of the Octopus Project, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, have successfully concluded this year’s training series for first responders, equipping 103 officers with practical competencies essential for investigating cybercrime offences from the first moment they are reported.
Developed earlier this year with the support of the CYBERKOP Action, the training programme was designed in line with international best practices and legal standards provided under the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention). As a result, participating officers are now better prepared to identify and classify cyber offences, conduct initial investigative steps, handle electronic evidence properly, and ensure effective inter-institutional coordination. These skills form the foundation of a consistent and effective first-response approach in cybercrime cases.
Feedback from participants confirmed that the training significantly improved their capacity to distinguish between cyber-dependent and cyber-enabled crimes and to apply appropriate first-response measures when handling reports. According to the Kosovo Police Training Division the completion of four training sessions throughout the year marks a significant domestic achievement and a substantial milestone in strengthening operational readiness, professional competence, and institutional resilience against modern cyber threats.
Building on this progress, the CYBERKOP Action remains committed to continuing and expanding this training programme in the coming year, further supporting the development of professional expertise within the Kosovo Police and reinforcing sustainable capacity-building in the fight against cybercrime.
