The Government of the Netherlands has made a voluntary contribution of €50000 to support the Council of Europe action against cybercrime.

This new voluntary contribution comes as a continuation of the financial support offered by the Netherlands to the Octopus Project in 2022, contributing to the implementation of the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention), its two Additional Protocols and related standards.

The Netherlands is Party to the Convention on Cybercrime and its First Additional Protocol, on Xenophobia and Racism, as well as one of the 51 States signatories of the Second Additional Protocol, on enhanced co-operation and disclosure of electronic evidence.

The agreement was signed on 9 September 2025 by Ambassador Tanja Gonggrijp, Permanent Representative of Netherlands to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General.

The Council of Europe gratefully acknowledges the support offered by the Government of the Netherlands through Octopus Project.
