Between 22-26 May 2023, was organised in Lima the first Introductory training on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence for judges and prosecutors, since Peru's onboarding as GLACY+ priority country in 2022.
The activity is part of the broader Training of Tainers (ToT) programme aimed at creating a pool of national judicial trainers on cybercrime in the country. The first training, held at the Magistrate’s Academy in Lima between 22 and 26 May, included two modules: a two-day course on soft skills and adult training methodology and a three-day introductory course on cybercrime and electronic evidence, based on the latest training materials updated in 2020.
The same group of judges and prosecutors will participate, later in the year, in the advanced course, thus completing the ToT programme and becoming certified national judicial trainers on cybercrime and electronic evidence.
The course experience was also enhanced through the participation of two Chilean prosecutors who contributed to the discussions with examples and knowledge sharing from their own country.
The Council of Europe’s ToT programme is building block for ensuring a sustainable approach to judicial training on cybercrime and electronic evidence. Earlier this year, a workshop was also organised with representatives of the Public Ministry, the Judiciary and the Magistrate’s Academy to discuss strategies and agree on solutions for mainstreaming the cybercrime module in the training curricula for judges and prosecutors.
