On 19-20 February 2025, the CyberSouth+ joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe, with the support of MA-JUST programme, supported the delivery of a hands-on training on investigating Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) in Rabat, Morocco.
This initiative was developed in response to strong interest expressed during the Regional Workshop on OCSEA Reporting and Follow-Up, held in Rome on 28-29 November 2024, when the need for dedicated capacity building support to enhance investigative capabilities was highlighted by the countries represented in the event. the need for specialised capacity-building efforts.
Through hands-on exercises and in-depth discussions, attendees explored key topics such as identifying victims and offenders from previously undiscovered OCSEA materials, navigating legal processes for obtaining data from international service providers, and conducting sensitive victim interviews.
The participants representing Ministry of Justice and Gendermerie Royale fostered their knowledge and skills on investigative steps and international cooperation for collecting evidence in OCSEA cases, by following legal and technical sessions.
CyberSouth+ remains committed to strengthening cross-border cooperation and improving regional responses to OCSEA and soon additional countries within the CyberSouth+ framework will benefit of this training exercise.
