The joint initiatives of the European Union and the Council of Europe, CyberSEE and CyberSouth+ projects, with the support of the Council of Europe’s Children’s Rights Division, organised a regional workshop on “Protection of children online: what follow-up to OCSEA reports?” in Rome, Italy.
By bringing together representatives of criminal justice authorities, service providers, and international organisations, the workshop focused on enhancing the follow-up mechanisms for detecting and reporting Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA). It provided an opportunity to the participants from the Southern Mediterranean, South-East Europe and Turkiye to share experiences and good practices in tackling the high volume of OCSEA reports received through national and international reporting platforms and hotlines.
The challenges and gaps in addressing OCSEA and handling reports identified during the two-day discussions will be shared with all participating institutions for proper follow up at the domestic level as well as for framing future capacity building support to be provided by the Council of Europe.
