CyberEast+: Ukrainian investigators attend specialised course on computer network and malware forensics

The CyberEast+ project, a joint venture of the Council of Europe and of the European Union, supported the organisation of a specialised course on computer network and malware investigations for the benefit of 24 representatives of law enforcement agencies and training institutions of Ukraine.
This training is part of a growing portfolio of technical courses specifically developed to enhance the practical skills of Ukrainian law enforcement officers dealing with advanced and malicious threats, brought up by the current Russian aggression.
During the three-day exercise, the Ukrainian counterparts, guided by two Council of Europe international consultants, analysed vulnerabilities of computer systems, as well as types of malware used for staging and executing cyberattacks. During the practical sessions, the Ukrainian investigators applied the threat-hunting approach, utilising open-source tools.
The CyberEast+ project is committed to further assist partner authorities in Ukraine to successfully handle electronic evidence in criminal cases, in line with the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol.
