Summer session of the Conference of INGOs

Strasbourg, 15 June The Conference of INGOs held its summer session from 21-24 June. Highlights included a Roundtable on 22 June on "The Burqa: a symbol of oppression or affirmation of identity". The Conference elected Ms Yulia Zvereva as rapporteur of its Bureau at its meeting on 24 June and discussed the current reform of the Council of Europe.

7th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Equality between Women and Men, Baku, 24 - 25 May

Strasbourg, 7 June The Chair of the Gender Equality Transversal Group, Karin Nordmeyer, addressed the Ministerial Conference on behalf of the Conference of INGOs. Participants adopted a Resolution "Bridging the gap between de jure and de facto equality to achieve real gender equality" and an Action Plan.
