The Committee for Interreligious and Interconvictional Dialogue of the Conference of INGOs will host an online webinar on "Engaging Religious Actors to End Violence Against Women and Girls" on Thursday, 22 October 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30 CET, in English and French with subtitles. The event will explore how religious and belief actors can help prevent violence against women and girls by challenging harmful norms, supporting survivors and working with human-rights institutions and civil society.

Members of Sakyadhita - the International Association of Buddhist Women, will share their experience in moving from intention to responsible action, strengthening women’s leadership and developing practical approaches to preventing violence.

The programme will feature contributions from Dr Susan Kerr, Head of the Human Rights Department at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Rev. Rita Famos, Executive President of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe, and Prof. Juan José Tamayo, Professor of Theology and Religious Studies and Director of the Ignacio Ellacuría Chair of Theology and Religious Studies at Carlos III University of Madrid. Discussions will focus on:

• engaging religious and belief actors in dialogue and partnerships,
• the implementation of Council of Europe Resolution 2033 on combating child abuse in European institutions and the key elements of protection strategies and the methods of cooperation between the Protestant churches of Europe in this regard,
• feminist interpretations of sacred texts as a means to dismantle discrimination, challenge practices that may legitimise violence, and foster an egalitarian society.
