New Chair of the North-South Centre Executive Council

Executive Council

The Executive Council meets twice yearly (spring and autumn) and has a total of 27 seats, composed of the following members:

    - eight representatives from the member States of the Partial Agreement, designated by the Committee of Representatives of the member States;
    - four parliamentarians, two of whom are designated by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and two of whom are designated by the European Parliament;
    - four representatives of local and regional authorities, designated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe;
    - six civil society representatives, two of whom are designated by the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe;
    - a representative from the European Commission;
    - three representatives from the South, invited by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, on the advice of the Bureau of the Executive Council;
    - a representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The Executive Council is renewed every two years, with the current mandate running from March 2008 to March 2010. Mrs Deborah Bergamini (Italy) is the Chair.
