Roberto Olla

Roberto Olla was trained as a lawyer, specialising in entertainment law (PhD) and film production.

He began his career as a researcher in media law at the European University Institute in Florence before moving to Brussels where he joined the distribution department of the MEDIA Programme.

A few years later, he was appointed as legal advisor on audio-visual matters by the European Commission.

In 2002 Roberto relocated to Strasbourg where he worked as a project manager dealing with feature films for the Eurimages co-production fund. He was named Executive Director of the Fund in 2008.

Alongside his role at Eurimages, Roberto is committed to sharing his expertise and passion for independent cinema with a new generation of young professionals, lecturing at a number of training institutes and travelling widely to promote cinema co-production.

Conciliating filmmaking and law has been an enduring professional goal throughout Roberto Olla's career.

  • Following the decision of the Eurimages Board of Management meeting in 2009 to carry out in 2014 a study on the functioning and results of the Fund, the Olsberg SPI company established in the United Kingdom has just published its report which you will find here. As an independent study, the contents of this document do not bind or commit in any way the Council of Europe and the Eurimages Fund. The Fund’s Board of Management will now study the recommendations proposed by the Olsberg SPI company.

  • From 1 January 2014, the rules for Eurimages Co-production funding have been modified.

  • The 2015 Regulations for the Distribution Support Programme, including the application forms, are now available here!


  • As of 1 January 2015, all applications for Scheme II must be submitted once a year at the first deadline, corresponding to the March meeting, i.e. 15 January 2015.
