The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe regrets the loss of Simone Veil, laureate of the North-South Prize 2007.

She was awarded for her extraordinary commitment to the defence of women rights and to the fight against extremism and terrorism.

The values she stood for remain a priority for the North-South Centre.
