Report on the integration of immigrants in Catalonia 2015

In May this year Catalonia (Spain) has released the “Report on the integration of immigrants in Catalonia 2015”, an independent annual assessment of the progress on the integration of immigrants and refugees in the area. The document evaluates how diversity has been managed through public policies, and takes into account the level of coexistence achieved by the society as a whole.

The report further provides the reader an assessment of corporate interventions, a proposal for integration indicators and their results, and finishes off with conclusions and recommendations.

For the first time this year, the report has used the indicators proposed by the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Programme to compare Catalonia with the 70 most advanced cities in Europe, in view of identifying the steps that need to be taken for future action. In doing so, Catalonia has become pioneer among regions basing the review of its integration policies on the INDEX and the intercultural integration concept.
