Pompidou Group held second Steering Committee meeting for the Project “Strengthening the role of key actors in drug prevention” in Tbilisi

On 3 February 2026, the Pompidou Group convened the second meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project “Strengthening the role of key actors in drug prevention” in Tbilisi, Georgia. The event brought together representatives of nine state institutions, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs, and the Special Penitentiary Service and Public Defender’s Office.

The Steering Committee reviewed the activities carried out within the project in 2025 and identified priorities for 2026.  The project partners also approved the workplan for 2026.

The meeting was followed by an exchange of views on existing challenges, including gaps in services for minors affected by addiction and the need for evidence-based prevention approaches in education. Participants highlighted the added value of the Project in addressing these challenges by training professionals working with children and families at both central and local government levels.

The Project “Strengthening the Role of Key Actors in Drug Prevention” is financed under  the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024–2027 and runs until the end of June 2026.
