The North-South Centre is delighted to announce a new, free, online course: “Global Education: The Intercultural Dimension”, in collaboration with The Network University, designed for education practitioners working in formal and non-formal education, social workers, civil society, youth activists, as well as policy and decision makers and local authorities.

Starting on 29 October 2018, this new online course is open to learners with an interest on the concept of intercultural education as part of the global education context, willing to focus on its practice while exploring its dilemmas and challenges.

At the end of this four-week course learners will be able to:

- understand the relation between global education and learning with an intercultural dimension

- understand intercultural learning as an educational practice

- initiate intercultural dialogue in policy making

- practice Intercultural education as part of social and political action

Since 2009, the North-South Centre has trained over 1500 learners from more than 50 countries through a series of online training courses, which cover three different dimensions of global education: human rights, intercultural dialogue, and democratic citizenship. Each course takes place twice a year and lasts for four weeks. The courses consist of both text and videos and require an active participation of 10 hours per week.

The North-South Centre, in collaboration with experts, designed a course that explores the ways of addressing the issues in theory and practice, reflecting on the ideal state considering the evidence from the reality, and developing new ways of understanding and promoting intercultural education in the contexts of the participants.

The activities of the North-South Centre Global Education programme are implemented in the framework of the iLegend programme -Intercultural Learning Exchange through Global Education, Networking and Dialogue- a joint programme between, and funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe to include Global Development Education in formal education in the Balkans, Baltic, South East Europe and Mediterranean and Visegrad regions.
