Huge success for Eurimages in Venice!

The films supported by Eurimages selected at the 74th edition of the Venice Festival have been awarded with numerous prizes:

  • the Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize for the film Foxtrot (DE, FR, IL) by Samuel Maoz and
  • the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress awarded to Charlotte Rampling for her role in Hannah (IT, BE, FR) by Andrea Pallaoro.

Gianni Amelio, president of the Orizzonti section, gave the following prizes :

  • the Prize for Best Film to Nico, 1988 (IT, BE) by Susanna Nicchiarelli and
  • the Best Screenplay Award to Dominique Welinski and René Ballesteros for The Oblivon Verses (FR, DE, NL) by Alireza Khatami.

The Venice Classics Award for Best Documentary on Cinema was awarded to the film The Prince and the Dybbuk (PL, DE) by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosolowski.

Several collateral prizes were awarded to Eurimages-supported films as well:

  • a Special Mention - UNIMED Award went to the film Brutti e Cattivi (IT, FR) by Cosimo Gomez,
  • a Special Mention – SIGNIS Award as well as the Prize « Premio Arca CinemaGiovani » for the Best Film of the Competition were awarded to Foxtrot (DE, FR, IL) by Samuel Maoz,
  • the Francesco Pasinetti Award and the FEDIC Award went to Nico, 1988 (IT, BE) by Susanna Nicchiarelli,
  • the FIPRESCI Award for Best Debut Film and the Interfilm Award were given to The Oblivon Verses (FR, DE, NL) by Alireza Khatami and finally
  • the Pellicola d’Oro Award for Best Stagehand went to Roberto Di Pietro for Hannah (IT, BE, FR) by Andrea Pallaoro.
