A conference “Competences for democratic culture in education” will take place at the CentreVille hotel in Podgorica. The event will be organised under the initiative of the project “Fostering a democratic school culture” under the large EU – Council of Europe programme ‘Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey’.
A model of the competences for effective participation in a culture of democracy developed by the Council of Europe will be presented as well as regional and EU experiences in fostering democratic school culture. The objective of the conference is to give Montenegrin schools a forum for learning and networking and to present the project’s activities at the school level. A total of 22 primary and secondary Montenegrin schools are piloting in this project.
Among the speakers of the opening session will be Andre Lys, Head of Operations at the EU Delegation to Montenegro; Veljko Tomić, Director General of the Directorate for General Secondary, Professional and Adult Education, Ministry for Education; and Angela Longo, Head of Operations at the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica. Representatives from the 22 pilot schools, Ministry of Education, the Bureau for Educational Services, NGOs, international organisations, local and international experts will take part in the event.
The roundtable event will start at 10:00 am on Friday, 21 April 2017, at the CentreVille hotel in Podgorica. Language regime: English-Montenegrin with simultaneous interpretation. The event is fully open to the media. Press statements will be given upon request.
