Montenegrin prison staff certified for delivering trainings on prevention and combat of ill treatment

A team of prison employees selected to become trainers within the prison system and use their skills and knowledge through the cascade training sessions in order to enhance the knowledge of their fellow colleagues were successfully trained in “training of trainers” session and awarded with Council of Europe’ certificates.

This programme will have a multiplier-effect through a number of training sessions to be held by educated trainers in the forthcoming period. It will contribute to bringing the prison system of Montenegro closer to European standards, primarily to the standards of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) and European prison rules. The training was done in accordance with the programme developed within the Action “Enhancing human rights protection for detained and sentenced persons in Montenegro that is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, started on 1 October 2016 and will finish in January 2019, with overall budget of 750.000 €.”
