Today the brand-new thematic page on gentrification is launched on the ICC web, and it will be regularly updated to provide information to practitioners, politicians and citizens on this increasingly important topic. Today you will find the study on gentrification as well as introductory videos on the page.

The study on gentrification is a result of the work during the spring with ICC experts Mela Social Enterprise. The ICC in happy to present the study, which will function as the starting point for the future ICC work on the topic. The ICC wishes to thank all member cities and beyond who have contributed to the study with information on challenges and policy solutions.

The ICC will continue working on this topic next week, through the webinar on “Gentrification and Public Space - Interaction in crises and beyond”, held on Thursday 11 June. The webinar will take the ICC study on gentrification as a starting point; it will further give special attention to the exceptional circumstances that Covid-19 has created in the public space and raise questions on how to increase interaction in the time of social and physical distancing. The webinar will focus on the following three topics:

  • Presentation of the ICC study on gentrification
  • Gentrification in the shadow of the Covid-19 crises
  • Interaction in public space in times of social distancing

Registrations remain open for interested parties who have received an invitation to the event. Stay tuned for more updates!
