Venice Concert Highlights Italy's Commitment to European Human Rights and Rule of Law

The Council of Europe Office in Venice celebrated two major milestones on October 10: the 75th Anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights and the 35th Anniversary of the Venice Commission.

The occasion was marked by an European concert held at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. This event reaffirms Italy's pivotal role and commitment to the Council of Europe's values, given that the Human Rights Convention was signed in Rome, the Venice Commission holds its plenary sessions four times a year in Venice, and host in an external office of the Council of Europe.

The evening was inaugurated with a speech by Council of Europe Secretary General, Alain Berset. The musical program was curated by the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Venice. The orchestra, composed of 24 Conservatory’s students was conducted by  Maestra Luisa Russo.
