Since 2022, two projects have been providing support to EU member states in response to Russia’s military aggression, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices among the regions. Currently only one of these projects is still under implementation until August 2025.
The focus of these projects is on:
- The identification of individuals with effective control of companies and the establishment of firewalls to prevent sanctions evasion
- The application of market entry requirements and the effective supervision of virtual asset service providers
- The mapping of the legal framework and institutions for freezing assets
- The support for the freezing and seizure of assets of companies controlled by people or groups on the sanctions list
